Information on the Gold Czech Lion 1 oz PP – 2026 (incl. case and COA)
The Czech Mint launched its first bullion coin, the Czech Lion, in 2017. The coin is available in denominations of 10 oz, 5 oz, 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz and 1/25 oz. The national heraldic animal, the Bohemian lion, has adorned the obverse side of the coins ever since and stands for pride, history and national identity. We are delighted to offer two limited-edition gold Polished Plate (PP) coins from the 2026 series, in 1 oz and 1/4 oz denominations, available exclusively from philoro. Polished Plate is one of the most elaborate minting processes, producing brilliant mirror-like surfaces and exceptional detail.
The design of the gold coin
To mark the tenth year of the series, the Czech Lion motif has been completely redesigned by a new artist. The coins feature a fully revised relief, while the obverse continues to depict the two-tailed Bohemian lion, a realistically rendered national symbol wearing the Crown of St Wenceslas. The inscription “ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA” appears alongside the coin’s weight and fineness, “1 oz Au .9999”. The reverse side of the coin shows the portrait of King Charles III. The year of issue “2026”, the name of the issuing country “NIUE” and the face value “50 DOLLARS” (NZD) are also visible.
