Silver Jurassic Relics 1 oz – High Relief – Carcharodontosaurus 2026

Information on the Silver Jurassic Relics 1 oz – High Relief – Carcharodontosaurus 2026

The Carcharodontosaurus was one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs in Earth’s history. Its name means “shark-toothed lizard”, referring to its long, sharp, serrated teeth, which resembled those of the great white shark. It lived around 100–93 million years ago in what is now North Africa. Measuring 12–13 metres in length and weighing up to 8 tonnes, it was a formidable apex predator. Its skull, which measured over 1.5 metres in length, and its powerful legs suggest that, despite its size, it was fast and probably hunted large herbivores such as sauropods.  This issue contains a genuine Carcharodontosaurus tooth fragment, making it an impressive piece of prehistory for your collection.  This exceptional coin is struck in Ultra High Relief from 1 oz of fine silver with a purity of 99.99%, in Silk Finish quality. The worldwide mintage is limited to just 999 pieces.

The design of the silver coin

The obverse features a detailed close-up of a Carcharodontosaurus’s head. Its jaws are wide open, giving the coin a dynamic and aggressive appearance. Subtle fern fronds are engraved in the background, evoking the natural environment of the prehistoric era. On the right-hand side, stylised claw marks appear as though the animal has scratched the surface of the coin. The design is complemented by the inscription “CARCHARODONTOSAURUS JURASSIC RELICS 2026”.  The reverse features a dinosaur egg at the centre, from which a young Carcharodontosaurus is hatching. On the left-hand side, a circular insert depicts the portrait of King Charles III, along with the inscriptions “5 DOLLARS”, “CHARLES III” and “COOK ISLANDS”.
