The design of the silver coin
The obverse depicts a tranquil koala scene high in the branches of a eucalyptus tree. At the centre, an adult koala clings to a branch while protectively carrying a joey on its back. Another koala can be seen resting peacefully among the upper branches, adding depth and warmth to the composition. The design is completed by the inscription “KOALA” together with the weight “1 oz” and fineness “999 Ag”. The reverse features the portrait of King Charles III, designed by Daniel Thorne. The portrait is surrounded by the inscriptions “CHARLES III”, “AUSTRALIA 2026” and the denomination “1 DOLLAR”.
