Details of the Philharmonic Silver 1 oz
The Vienna Philharmonic Silver is a silver coin from Austria and has been issued by Münze Österreich (the Austrian mint) since 2008. This makes the Philharmonic Silver the world’s youngest silver bullion coin. With up to 18 million pieces in circulation annually, the “Silver Phil” is one of the best-selling bullion coins in the world. The Silver Philharmonic, like the Gold Philharmonic, is particularly popular in Japan and North America.
The Silver Vienna Philharmonic coin is minted in a 1 ounce version and is legal tender in Austria. Like its “big brother”, the Gold Philharmonic, the Silver Philharmonic also has a face value in euros and is thus the only silver bullion coin denominated in euros. The fineness of the Silver Philharmonic is 999. This silver coin also has a very low price premium and represents a good investment.
The design of the silver coin
Like the gold coin, the Silver Vienna Philharmonic coin bears the same motif every year. On the front, you can see the large organ from the Golden Hall of the Musikverein Wien, which is well known from the annual New Year’s concert. The reverse shows some of the instruments of the famous Vienna orchestra: a horn, a bassoon, a harp, four violins and a cello at the centre.
