Information on Silver Lunar III Snake 2 oz - Antique Finish 2025
The snake is the sixth sign of the twelve-year lunar calendar. This reflects the traditional story in which the Jade Emperor had the twelve signs of the zodiac compete against each other in a race across a river to decide in which order they should be entered in the calendar. Those born under the sign of the Chinese snake in the years 2025, 2013, 2001, 1989, 1977 and every 12th preceding year are considered charismatic, independent and intelligent. The special colours and surface abrasions of the antique finish present the snake design in exceptional detail on this 2 oz silver coin. The coin has been finished by hand to give it a unique finish.
The design of the silver coin
The obverse side is dominated by a coiled snake on the ground below hanging leaves at its centre. Next to the motif is the Chinese character for snake "蛇", the inscription "SNAKE 2025" and Perth Mint's mint mark "P". The reverse side of the coin shows a portrait of King Charles III. The inscriptions "CHARLES III" and "AUSTRALIA" are embossed above. The weight "2 oz", fineness "9999 Ag" and the nominal value of "2 DOLLARS" adorn the bottom of the coin.
