The Daintree Rainforest is one of the oldest tropical rainforests in the world. Located in northern Queensland, it has been constantly evolving, growing, living and breathing for 180 million years. The forest is so impressive that the famous British nature film maker Sir David Attenborough described it as “the most remarkable place in the world”. The rainforest covers an area of around 1,200 square kilometres and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1988.
This beautiful silver coin has been struck in proof quality and comes with an elegant coin case and certificate of authenticity. The design of the silver coin
The obverse shows the flora of the Daintree Rainforest from a very special perspective. The centrepiece is a colourful design of the Queensland fan palm (Licuala ramsayi), surrounded by a majestic forest that towers upwards. The face value of “$5” can be read to the side. The inscriptions “DAINTREE RAINFOREST” and “2022 BEAUTY, RICH & RARE” complete the design on the edge of the coin.
The reverse shows the famous portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which is surrounded by further images of the Great Barrier Reef and Queensland fan palm. The portrait is framed by the lettering “ELIZABETH II”, “AUSTRALIA 2022” and “ONE OUNCE FINE SILVER”.
