A fascinating and symbolic animal that roams the forests and mountains of Switzerland is now immortalised in silver. At the centre of this edition is the wolf, known for its intelligence, strength and social structure. A symbol of freedom and an untamed life, it has fuelled people's imagination for centuries, and although the wolf was once a native species in Switzerland, it was almost extinct in the 19th century due to persecution and habitat loss. Thanks to successful conservation measures and the return of natural habitats in recent decades, the wolf is now part of the Alpine landscape once again. The occasional wolf wanders through the Swiss mountains today, symbolising the return of nature's wild heritage. This exceptional masterpiece is minted in polished plate and comes in an elegant, highly polished precious wooden box with an integrated philoro logo and certificate of authenticity. As one of the most sophisticated production techniques, Polished Plate (PP) is particularly sought after by collectors. The wolf is depicted in detail in Ultra High Relief (UHR), lending the coin a breathtaking depth and presence.

The design of the silver medal 

The obverse side of the silver medal shows an impressively detailed depiction of a wolf reclining on a tree trunk. The wolf's fur shows the finest details, skilfully emphasising its various textures and shades. A majestic Alpine panorama stretches out in the background, reflecting the natural beauty of the wolf's habitat. The side of the coin is adorned with gold-plated, stylised maple leaves, adding an elegant touch. The animal's name in Italian, German and French, "LUPO WOLF LOUP", is inscribed along the upper edge of the coin, while the reverse shows a stylised map of Switzerland. The country's borders are clearly recognisable and are overlain by a cross, a traditional symbol of Switzerland. The logo and the name philoro can be seen in the cross. The map is embossed in relief, lending it a three-dimensional appearance. The background structure consists of fine lines. The lettering "SWISS WILDLIFE" is recognisable on the upper edge. The fineness "999.9 FINE SILVER 3 OZ" is imprinted on the underside. A gold-plated Edelweiss flower is depicted on the left and right edges.
